Introduction to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a modern behavioral approach that helps individuals develop psychological flexibility—the ability to be open to experiences, stay present, and engage in meaningful actions aligned with personal values. This continuing education course provides behavior analysts with an overview of the six core ACT processes and practical strategies for integrating ACT into behavior analytic practice. Participants will explore how ACT can enhance client outcomes, improve therapeutic rapport, and address private events within a behavior analytic framework. Learning Objectives: By the end of this course, participants will be able to: Identify and describe the six core processes of ACT and their relevance to behavior analytic practice. Apply ACT-based strategies to address private events while maintaining adherence to behavior analytic principles. Develop interventions that incorporate ACT processes to enhance client engagement and promote meaningful behavior change.
